Natuurpark Gruppo di Tessa
Hohe Wilde en Hohe Weiße, Roteck en Tschigat, Laghi di Sopranes en Timmelsjoch - het natuurpark Gruppo di Tessa bekoort met hoogalpiene hoogtepunten, maar ook met lieflijke natuur op lagere hoogten. Het natuurgebied is rijk aan spannende contrasten en herbergt een gevarieerde flora en fauna.
In het natuurpark Gruppo di Tessa ten noorden van Merano vind je landschappen op zeer verschillende hoogtes: tussen het laagste en het hoogste punt van het natuurgebied ligt een hoogteverschil van 3.000 m. Je vindt hier dus alle biotische gemeenschappen van Zuid-Tirol - van submediterraan tot hoogalpien.

Het natuurpark Gruppo di Tessa beslaat een oppervlakte van 31.391 ha en delen van de gemeentes Naturns, Algund, Rifiano, Moso in Passiria, San Martino in Passiria, Parcines, San Martino in Passiria en Senales. Het natuurreservaat omvat de hele Gruppo di Tessa, waaraan het zijn naam ontleent, en delen van de Stubaier Alpen en de Ötztaler Alpen. Zoals de beroemde gletsjermummie Ötzi en andere vondsten bewijzen, waren er duizenden jaren geleden al mensen onderweg in het gebied van het natuurpark.

De Meran Höhenweg is een van de mooiste rondwandelingen in de Alpen: als je alle etappes aflegt, heb je de Gruppo di Tessa in 5 tot 8 dagen omzeild: Wandelaars hebben hiervoor een goede conditie nodig en op sommige plaatsen een goede tred en hoogtevrees. Een traject dat zeer geschikt is voor gezinnen is de Almerlebnisweg Pfossental (Alpenbelevenispad): Op bijna 5 km vertellen informatieborden en interactieve elementen interessante feiten over de alpiene landbouw en het dieren- en plantenleven in het grootste zijdal van het Val Senales. De terugweg is dezelfde als de heenweg. Een bergtocht naar de pittoreske Laghi di Sopranes is ook uitdagend en de moeite waard.

Het natuurparkhuis in Naturns geeft inzicht in de verschillende habitats en de flora en fauna van het natuurpark. In de bunker Mooseum in Moos in Passeier leren bezoekers interessante feiten over de Hinterpasseier, zoals het achterliggende Passeiertal wordt genoemd, en daarnaast kunnen steenbokken en hun klimkunsten worden geobserveerd in het uitgestrekte verblijf.
